King Malcolm X

King Malcolm X

Malcolm X (born Malcolm Little; May 19, 1925 – February 21, 1965) was an
African-American Muslim minister and human rights activist who was a popular figure during the civil rights movement. A spokesman for the Nation of Islam until 1964, he was a vocal advocate for Black empowerment. The only remaining childhood home of Malcolm X, a two-and-a-half-story home in the Roxbury section of Boston where he lived as a teenager in the early 1940s, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

I chose to paint Malcom X , because when I came to America and learned how to read, his autobiography was one of the first autobiographies I read. His fire and leadership had such an impact on me. It was an honor to paint such a powerful human being.
